The pruned lines of her gentle fingertips were a tenth of my own gravity stricken fingers when we first formally met. She did not shake my hand but grasped my left index finger assuring me she knew I was hoovering over her. Her face was so alien, smushed and violet; her hands were the only reminder that she and I were human. We were strangers.
Her hands have begun to decrease the space between her fingertips and mine as the past five years have forever intertwined and tangled our importance in each other’s lives. Life has done this to me once before and what I have learned is that moments are breathtaking and breath-giving. I already yearn for the moments where she cuddled near my side and fell asleep unknowingly as I wondered what type of person she would be when she and I switched places. Nostalgia already overtakes me sometimes because I have learned just how precious time is.

Art’s great nudes have gone skinny
Italian artist Anna Utopia Giordano has created a visual re-imagination of historic nude paintings, had the subjects conformed their bodies to what the 21st century considers an ideal of beauty. The results are revealing—and quite shocking in what they say about the modern attitude toward women’s bodies.
